What Is Nia
Neuromuscular Integrative Action or more simply non impact aerobics, Nia is described differently by every individual. This is because it feels different in every single class. Its focus is to get people to step in and out of their heads. It’s a “leave all distractions behind” kind of mindset. When I step into class, I feel a sense of freedom that I gift myself. A mind, body, spirit connection that feels easy when the music starts.
Nia is meant for each individual who desires to discover, explore, unleash and enhance their own individual potential to lead a healthy and meaningful life.
Practiced barefoot, Nia’s purpose is to inspire and guide people to listen to the wisdom of the body, choose movement that feels good, and find connection in community.

"NOT FOR ME'
So many people talk themselves out of a class before they even go. Movement is medicine and when you add community, a certain kind of healing happens. It has steps to follow, but it's absolutely NOT about getting the steps right. It’s about moving your body’s way, at your level. Easy to follow steps get repeated to activate and engage your brain while also conditioning your body. Feeling awkward is common for any new activity. After just a few classes, people report feeling much more comfortable and confident.

Where Nia Began
Nia was born 40 years ago in the age of “no pain, no gain” mentality along with high impact aerobics and high intensity workouts. Together Debbie and Carlos Rosas desired to find a better way.
Leaving very successful careers behind, they began a journey to find an alternative way to move, heal, and condition the body mind and spirit.
To this day, Nia continues to lead the way to a happier, healthier life one dance at a time.
“I have always dreamed of creating a community of like minded people who desire to help others live a healthy and meaningful life in their body, no matter what their age, health, or well being. Nia is that community.”
Debbie Rosas, Nia Founder
